Additionally, there is good access by buses and trams (stops Park “Skały” Twardowskiego, Kapelanka, Grota-Roweckiego, and Norymberska) or by bicycle – our city is famous for numerous bicycle routes.

The Marvellous Zakrzówek – a Bit of History

The remainder of the old quarry in the form of Twardowski Rocks, lush nature and the fetching clear water of the 32-metre deep artificial lake in Zakrzówek have always attracted walking enthusiasts, nature watchers, climbers, and divers. The captivating spot has become a habitat of many species of animals and insects, also rare and protected ones. The place was mentioned for the first time in 1238, and later, in the 19^th century, it was included in the barracks area of the Krakow Fortress. Zakrzówek is also mentioned in the legend of master Twardowski, who supposedly had his school of magic and wizardry in these cliffs. Unfortunately, as is the case with such tales, this is not entirely correct, as in reality, Twardowski had his workshop in Krzemionki Podgórskie (in the Podgórze district).
