Are you dreaming of a romantic date like the one from the movies at the skating rink near the Rockefeller Center in New York, or do you simply want to spend time actively with your family on a sunny winter day? There are plenty of ice rinks and climatic skating venues with unique sceneries and lighting in Krakow.
Where to go for a bit of fresh-air winter fun? A place that is particularly popular with the inhabitants of Krakow and the visitors is the Nowa Huta Cultural Centre’s Skating Rink at al. Jana Pawła II, in the very heart of the Nowa Huta District, and the Tauron Arena Krakow Skating Rink (ul. Stanisława Lema) with a catering zone and many attractions for kids and adults alike. Closer to the city centre, you can find great ice rink fun at the Ice Park Krakow – the biggest skating rink of this type in Poland – in the Jordan Park at ul. Reymonta, or at the ice rink near the Nowak-Jeziorański Square (near the Galeria Krakowska Mall). If you prefer indoor skating rinks, an interesting option is the Cracovia skating rink at ul. With cross-country skiing trails laid out by the City Greenery Administration you can (weather allowing) enjoy several charming routes, including the trails through the Błonia Park, Polish Aviators’ Park, Górka Pychowicka woods, or the Skotniki Nature Reserve.
Sleighing enthusiasts cannot complain either, as the capital of Lesser Poland is the place to find all kinds of smaller and bigger sleighing hills. With saucer sleighs, you can go crazy e.g. at the Krakus Mound, in the Polish Aviators’ Park, in the Zielony Jar (Green Ravine) Park, on the hills near the Nowa Huta Cultural Centre, in the Planty Mistrzejowickie and Planty Bieńczyckie Parks, and in many other Krakow parks.

The perfect skiing or snowboarding pistes from your dreams will not be easy to find in Krakow itself, but its vicinity is something else altogether! The ski resorts in Myślenice, Podstolice, Siepraw, Szklana Góra, or Kasina are all within 50 km from Krakow and they all promise snow craziness. If you venture a bit further down south, you find a real cornucopia of pistes, including the whole Podhale (Polish Highlands) region.
