The one located in Wieliczka is more famous of the two. The salt mine captivates with monumental chambers, lakes, beautiful chapels, including the St. Anthony Chapel, salt sculptures, and Crystal Grottos with incredible halite formations. Its characteristic, white cottages, are richly adorned with enchanting folk ornaments – the most famous painted complex is the Felicja Curyłowa Farmstead. The unique tradition of painting homesteads comes from the 19^th century, and it has been fostered by the inhabitants. If you want to see Zalipie in all its glory, plan you visit there at the turn of June and July to witness the local “Painted Cottage” competition.
