Wieliczka and Bochnia Salt Mines
The two sale mines included on the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites and available for visitors are special places among the attractions of the Krakow area. The one located in Wieliczka is more famous of the two. The salt mine captivates with monumental chambers, lakes, beautiful chapels, including the St. Anthony Chapel, salt sculptures, and Crystal Grottos with incredible halite formations. Along the 3 km route, you can discover the magical world of salt, enjoy the health benefits of a saline graduation tower and the unique micro-climate. The second mine is located in Bochnia, and, apart from the health benefits, provides a great opportunity for an unusual trip with an underground railway and a boat crossing. It is truly enchanting with enormous caverns, the beautiful St. Kinga Chapel, and the old, underground horse stables. Visiting any of the two stays with you for a long time, therefore, it is worth adding them to your itinerary, when visiting Krakow.
